This is the story of the beautiful, historic American River in the rugged Sierra Foothills above Sacramento, California, and a plan to drown its spectacular canyons with the proposed Auburn Dam.  The building of the dam has been stopped so far by those who care about keeping the river wild, but calls to build the dam come and go with the state’s wildly shifting water supply in these times of global warming.
